The Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN) Initiative provides financial assistance of up to ₹1,50,000 to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households and those with monthly incomes below ₹10,000. This assistance provides general and specialist treatments for (i) life-threatening diseases and (ii) injuries caused by natural and man-made disasters like as industrial, agricultural, traffic, or rail accidents, as well as bomb blasts. This scheme covers life-threatening diseases and procedures, cancer, renal and urinary issues, Orthopedic conditions, Thallassemia, Bone marrow transplants, AIDS, and chronic mental illnesses that require surgical intervention. The beneficiaries are picked by an Assam government-appointed Selection Committee. Furthermore, the Government of India contributes 50% of the funds sanctioned by the State Government for this effort.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant should be permanent resident of Assam.
- Family income of the applicant should be less than 5 lakhs per annum.
- No age limit for applicants.
- Govt. employees or govt. pensioners are not entitled.
- Treatment should be undertaken in any govt. hospital including Govt. Medical Colleges and all reputed Pvt. Hospitals registered under Clinical Establishment Act. anywhere in the state or in the country.
Documents Required for Assam Arogya Nidhi
Download the application form from the website of National Health Assam www.nhm.assam.gov.in.
- Photograph of the Patient attested by any Doctor.
- Attested photocopy of Income Certificate by Revenue Circle Officer.
- Attested photocopy of Identify & Address Proof (Voter ID, ADHAAR CARD, Driving license).
- Original bills, vouchers, receipts etc.
- Photocopy copy of Prescriptions.
- Discharge summary.
- Attested Photocopy copy of the first page of the Bank Pass Book.
- Attested Photocopy of Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogyua Yojana(PMJAY)/Atal Amrit Abhiyan(AAA) Card.
All the above relevant documents along with the application form to be submitted to the Office of the Mission Director, National Health Mission, Saikia Commercial Complex, Christian Basti, Guwahati: 781005.
An Expert Committee comprising of specialist doctors of Gauhati Medical College verifies the applications and recommends the eligible cases.
As per the committee’s recommendations financial assistance is provided to eligible beneficiaries preferably through Direct Bank Transfer.
