Reservation: The government reserves 10% of the total vacancies for ex-servicemen (ESM). If suitable ex-servicemen candidates are unavailable, non-ex-servicemen candidates will fill the vacancies as per government policy.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the UPSC CAPF (Assistant Commandants) Examination 2025 must meet the following eligibility requirements:

    • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
    • Candidates from Nepal and Bhutan may also apply under certain conditions.

  • The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) includes:
    • 100m race: 16 sec (male), 18 sec (female)
    • 800m race: 3 min 45 sec (male), 4 min 45 sec (female)
    • Long jump: 3.5 m (male), 3 m (female)
    • Shot put (7.26 kg) – 4.5 m (male)

Application Fee

  • General/OBC Candidates: ₹200/-
  • SC/ST/Female Candidates: Exempted (No Fee)

  • Complete One Time Registration (OTR) before applying for the examination.
  • If already registered, proceed directly to fill out the online application form.
  • You must complete OTR registration only once in a lifetime, and you can do it anytime throughout the year.
Step 2: Modifications in OTR Profile
  • Candidates can modify their OTR profile only once in their lifetime, within 7 days after the application window closes.

    • Class 10th Board Exam Roll Number
  • Non-editable fields after registration:
    • Name (as per Class X certificate)
    • Date of Birth
    • Father’s Name & Mother’s Name
    • Registered Mobile Number & Email ID (Can be changed only under special conditions)
Step 3: Modification in Application Form
  • The correction window for the application form will be open from 26.03.2025 to 01.04.2025.
  • Changes can be made only in fields other than the OTR profile.
Step 4: Withdrawal of Application
  • Candidates cannot withdraw their application after submission.
Important Instructions
  • Government employees must inform their Head of Office/Department before applying.
  • Applications from candidates whose employers withhold permission will be rejected.
  • Choice of exam center is final—candidates appearing at unauthorized centers will have their papers disqualified.
  • Incomplete or defective applications will be rejected.
  • No hard copy submission of applications is required.

Selection Procedure/Scheme

The selection process for the UPSC CAPF (Assistant Commandants) Examination 2025 will consist of the following stages:

1. Written Examination
  • The written exam will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 03rd August 2025.
  • It consists of two papers:
    • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (Objective Type, 250 Marks)
      • Timing: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
      • Questions in both English & Hindi
    • Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (200 Marks)
      • Timing: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
      • Essay can be written in English or Hindi, but the Précis Writing, Comprehension, and Communication Skills will be in English only.

Important Notes:

  • Minimum qualifying marks will be set separately for each paper by UPSC.
  • Paper I will be evaluated first; Paper II will be evaluated only if the candidate qualifies Paper I.
2. Physical Standards Tests (PST) & Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)

Candidates who qualify the written examination will have to undergo PST & PET as per the criteria below:

  • Pregnancy Clause for Female Candidates:
    • The authorities will declare a pregnant candidate temporarily unfit, and she can appear for PST/PET six weeks after confinement.
    • If absent during the Interview/Personality Test, her candidature will be cancelled.
3. Interview/Personality Test
  • Candidates qualifying PST/PET will be called for the Interview/Personality Test conducted by UPSC.
  • Total Marks: 150
  • Candidates failing PET will not be called for the interview.
4. Medical Standards Tests (MST)
  • Only candidates appearing for the Interview / Personality Test will undergo Medical Standards Tests.
  • Conducted under the supervision of a Nodal Authority appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Candidates can appeal against the Medical Standards Tests within 24 hours of the results.
5. Final Selection & Merit List
  • The authorities will prepare the merit list based on marks obtained in:
    • Written Examination
    • Interview/Personality Test
  • Candidates who do not meet the medical standards will not receive appointments.

Syllabus for Written Examination

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (250 Marks, Objective Type)

This paper tests a candidate’s logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and general awareness through the following topics:

  1. General Mental Ability: Logical reasoning, numerical ability, data interpretation.
  2. General Science: Scientific temper, awareness of environmental science, IT, biotechnology.
  3. Current Affairs: National & international events (sports, culture, governance, business, global relations).
  4. Indian Polity & Economy: Constitution, public administration, social systems, economic policies, human rights.
  5. History of India: Social, economic, and political aspects, including nationalism and the freedom movement.
  6. Indian & World Geography: Physical, social, and economic aspects of geography.
Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (200 Marks, Descriptive Type)
  • Part A (80 Marks): Essay Writing (in Hindi or English)
    • Topics: Modern Indian history, freedom struggle, geography, economy, security, human rights.
  • Part B (120 Marks): English Language Skills (to be attempted in English only)
